About
Hueston Woods Equestrian Camp sits within the 3,000-acre Hueston Woods State Park near the Indiana border in southwestern Ohio. The facility caters specifically to equestrian campers, with sites distributed along the bridle path network to provide convenient trail access. The terrain features flat to gently sloping paths through mixed hardwood forests, suitable for riders of varying experience levels. The campground offers approximately 47 sites split between electric and non-electric options. Electric sites include access to a shower house and flush toilets, while non-electric loops are served by vault latrines. All sites feature picnic tables and fire rings. A centrally located riding arena, operated by the Preble County Horseman's Association, is available for practice sessions or organized horse shows. The 18-mile bridle trail system connects riders to diverse terrain within the park, including forest roads and scenic routes around Acton Lake. Additional park amenities include laundry facilities and a trailer waste dump station. Reservations are required through Reserve Ohio up to six months in advance.
Directions
From Oxford, Ohio, take State Route 732 north approximately 5 miles to the park entrance. The equestrian camp is located on 4 Mile Valley Road on the east side of Acton Lake.
