About
Overlook Shelter is a popular day-use facility managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Brookville Lake. Situated near the Brookville Dam, the shelter offers breathtaking panoramic views of the lake and dam structure, considered one of the finest vistas in Indiana. The facility is ideal for picnics, group gatherings, and special events. The shelter is conveniently connected to the Brookville Lake Visitor Center via the Overlook Trail, a short nature hike that provides educational opportunities about the lake and the Corps' missions in the Ohio Valley. The Visitor Center features exhibits on local history, recreation, and water resource management. This is strictly a day-use area; camping and overnight stays are not permitted. The site includes parking for up to 76 vehicles. Brookville Lake itself offers extensive recreation opportunities including boating, water skiing, fishing, swimming, hiking, and access to the Whitewater River tailwater below the dam for canoeing, kayaking, and trout fishing. The shelter can be reserved for special events through Recreation.gov.
