Brookville Lake
Open year-round. The bridge on Dunlapsville Road over Brookville Lake is closed through the 2026 recreation season due to an INDOT project; use the detour via State Road 101 to SR 44 to SR 1 to access Quakertown SRA. The beach at Quakertown SRA is permanently closed; Mounds SRA beach remains open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Blue-green algae advisories are posted year-round.

About
Brookville Lake is a 5,200-acre reservoir in Franklin County, Indiana, managed by the Indiana Department of Natural Resources as part of the Brookville/Whitewater Complex spanning over 13,500 combined acres. The facility offers camping at two distinct State Recreation Areas: Mounds SRA, which provides a more developed camping experience with beach access, a camp store, and full amenities; and Quakertown SRA, which offers a quieter atmosphere. The campground features 439 total sites, including 60 full hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer connections, and 377 electric-only sites with 50-amp service. Each campsite includes a fire ring and picnic table. Facilities include bath houses with flush toilets and hot showers, comfort stations, multiple dump stations, playgrounds, and fish cleaning stations. Two marinas (Quakertown Marina and Kent's Harbor Marina) provide fuel, bait, and tackle. Recreational opportunities abound with nationally known sport fishing, boating, kayaking, swimming at Mounds SRA beach (Memorial Day through Labor Day), hiking trails, horseback riding, and hunting in designated areas. The lake is known for bass, crappie, and walleye fishing. Reservations can be made through the Indiana State Parks reservation system up to 6 months in advance.
