About

Tailwater Shelter 1 is a reservable day-use picnic shelter managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Brookville Lake. Located at the base of the dam, the shelter provides access to cold water trout fishing in the tailwater and river access to the Whitewater River. The facility includes electric plug-ins, a water spigot and fountain, and a cooking grill. The area features a modern indoor restroom, volleyball court, and nearby playground with 98 parking spaces. Visitors enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and rafting in the Whitewater River directly below the dam. Note that this is strictly a day-use facility with no overnight camping allowed.
