About

Tailwater Shelter 2 is a day-use picnic shelter operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Brookville Lake in Franklin County, Indiana. Located at the base of Brookville Lake Dam, the shelter overlooks the Whitewater River and sits within a large open grassy area. The site includes a modern indoor restroom, electric plug-ins, a water spigot and fountain, and a cooking grill for group gatherings. This facility is a day-use area only and does not permit overnight camping. Visitors can reserve the shelter through Recreation.gov for picnics, family reunions, and other group events. The parking area accommodates up to 98 vehicles. The tailwater area below the dam is popular for cold water trout fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and rafting on the Whitewater River. Nearby Brookville Lake offers additional recreation including beaches, boat ramps, campgrounds, hiking trails, an 18-hole golf course, and shooting ranges.
