About

Hope Campground is located near Provo Canyon along Kyhv Peak Road at an elevation of 6,500 feet in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. This primitive campground is popular for its close proximity to Orem and Provo, making it an accessible mountain retreat for urban campers. The campground is forested with maple, scrub oak, and fir trees, which offer plentiful shade during summer months and beautiful fall colors in late September and October. The campground offers 24 single sites and 2 double sites, all equipped with picnic tables and fire grills. Vault toilets are available during the operating season, but no potable water is provided, so campers must bring their own. The site enforces a 7-day stay limit and gates close at 10 PM. No hookups, horses, or ATVs are permitted. Recreational opportunities abound near Hope Campground. The Rock Canyon Trail and Kyhv Peak Trail both begin nearby, offering excellent hiking with valley views. Kyhv Peak Road itself is open to mountain biking and provides scenic riding through mountain valleys. Vivian Park is just 6 miles up Provo Canyon with fishing access along the paved Provo River Parkway. Bridal Veil Falls and the Mount Timpanogos trailhead are also within reasonable driving distance.

Directions

From I-15, take exit 272 onto 800 North toward Orem. Turn east on Highway 52 to the mouth of Provo Canyon. Go east on Highway 189 for 2 miles to the Kyhv Peak turnoff. Turn right onto Kyhv Peak Road and continue 5 miles to the campground.
