About

Hope Campground is a primitive, forested campground located near Provo Canyon at 6,500 feet elevation in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest. The 23 sites are nestled among maple, scrub oak, and fir trees that provide plentiful shade during summer and vibrant fall colors. Each site includes a picnic table, grill, and fire ring, with vault toilets available throughout the campground. Campers must bring all water needed as there is no potable water on-site. The campground is popular with hikers and mountain bikers due to its proximity to Rock Canyon Trail and Squaw Peak Trail, both of which begin nearby. Kyhv Peak Road itself is open to mountain biking. Vivian Park lies 6 miles up Provo Canyon along the paved Provo River Parkway, offering picnicking and fishing opportunities. The trailhead for the 14-mile round-trip hike to the summit of Mount Timpanogos is approximately 15 miles away near Sundance Resort. Access is via Kyhv Peak Road, which is narrow, steep, and winding. Vehicles with trailers exceeding 30 feet in combined length are not recommended. Gates close at 10 pm. Pets are allowed on leashes no longer than 6 feet, with a maximum of 2 pets per site. The area is bear country; all food and trash must be properly secured.

Directions

Exit 272 from I-15, 800 North, Orem, Utah. Proceed east on Highway 52 to the mouth of Provo Canyon. Go east on Highway 189 for 2 miles to the Kyhv Peak (formerly Squaw Peak) turnoff. Turn right onto Kyhv Peak Road and continue 5 miles to the campground.
