About
Hoback Campground is situated along the designated Wild and Scenic Hoback River in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, approximately 21 miles southeast of Jackson, Wyoming. This small but pretty campground offers 18 primitive campsites arranged along a short road with a turnaround loop. Most sites provide direct access to the Hoback River, making it an excellent destination for anglers seeking quality fishing just steps from their campsite. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations accepted, offering a quieter camping experience compared to the busier Snake River area and Jackson. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring with grill, and vault toilets are available throughout the campground. During the main season, potable water is available via a hand pump at the host site, and trash service is provided. The campground has a two-vehicle maximum per site. While US Highway 189/191 parallels the campground, creating some traffic noise during daylight hours, the setting along the Wild and Scenic Hoback River provides a beautiful backdrop for camping, fishing, and wildlife viewing. The campground serves as an ideal base for exploring the greater Jackson Hole area while maintaining a peaceful atmosphere.
