About

Hoback Guard Station was constructed in 1935 by the Civilian Conservation Corps as a working ranger station and is considered eligible for the National Register of Historic Places. Located at 6,600 feet elevation near the town of Bondurant in the Bridger-Teton National Forest, this cabin offers a scenic backcountry experience with modern conveniences including electricity and running water during the summer season. The cabin accommodates up to six guests on three bunkbeds and includes a fully equipped kitchen with electric stove, refrigerator, sink, cookware, and utensils. Electric heat keeps the cabin comfortable. An indoor bathroom with flush toilet and shower is available when seasonal water is operational (typically mid-June through mid-September). Outside, a campfire ring with grill provides outdoor cooking options. Hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails access impressive scenery including Cliff Creek Falls, Shoal Creek Falls, and the historic Monument Ridge Lookout. Fishing opportunities abound in nearby Cliff Creek and the Hoback River. Snake River Canyon lies 15 miles west with rafting, kayaking, and climbing. Jackson, Wyoming is 33 miles away with full services, and Grand Teton National Park is just beyond.

Directions

From the town of Daniel, Wyoming, head north on US Highway 189 for approximately 2 miles to the junction of US 189 and US 191. Turn left onto US 191/189 and follow for approximately 33 miles.
