Headwaters Campground at Flagg Ranch sits in a spectacular wooded setting within the John D. Rockefeller, Jr. Memorial Parkway, positioned between Yellowstone National Park (two miles south of the south entrance) and Grand Teton National Park. The campground offers 34 tent sites with gravel parking for up to two vehicles and tent pads for up to two tents. All 97 RV sites are pull-through with full hookups including sewer, water, and 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric outlets. The 40 camper cabins feature bunk-style beds and lanterns but do not include electricity or private restrooms.
All sites include a picnic table and fire pit with metal grate. Tent and RV sites have bear-proof food storage lockers. The campground provides flush toilets, hot showers, and coin-operated laundry facilities. Firewood, food, ice, and camping supplies can be purchased at the on-site convenience store and gift shop. The main lodge offers casual dining at Sheffields Restaurant and Saloon.
The upper reaches of the Snake River flow through meadows mixed with conifer forest, providing excellent fishing opportunities for cutthroat trout, brook trout, and whitefish. Polecat Creek is within walking distance and offers wildlife viewing opportunities including moose, elk, mule deer, black bears, grizzly bears, and wolves. Nearby trails include the Huckleberry Hot Springs loop and Flagg Canyon trail along the Snake River. Limited cellular or internet service is available.
Directions
From Jackson, head north on US 191/89. Turn left at Moran Junction to continue on US 191/89 and enter Grand Teton National Park through the Moran entrance. Continue straight through Jackson Lake junction for 21 miles. Headwaters at Flagg Ranch will be on the left. From Yellowstone, exit the south gate and continue two miles south; Headwaters at Flagg Ranch will be on the right.
