* WHAT...Moderate risk of sneaker waves expected. * WHERE...South Central Oregon Coast and Curry County Coast. * WHEN...From 11 PM PDT Saturday evening through 11 AM PDT Sunday morning. * IMPACTS...Sneaker waves can run up significantly farther on beaches than normal, including over rocks and jetties. These waves can suddenly knock people off of their feet and sweep them into the ocean. The waves can also move logs or other objects which could crush or trap anyone caught underneath. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...A short period northwest swell and a building long period northwest swell may combine their energy to produce dangerous surges. Located on Oregon's rugged south coast near Brookings, Harris Beach State Park provides a premier year-round camping destination with diverse accommodations. The campground features 155 sites: 63 full hookup sites with electric (50/30/20 amp), water, and sewer; 28 electric and water sites; 54 tent sites; and 6 yurts. A meeting hall is also available for reservations during fall and winter seasons. Cable TV connections are no longer available at any campsites. The park offers spectacular coastal scenery centered around Bird Island (also called Goat Island), Oregon's largest coastal island at 184 feet tall and 21 acres. Campers can explore sandy beaches, tidepools, and coastal trails. The day-use area provides beach access via an accessible ramp system. The campground includes modern amenities such as flush toilets, hot showers, and laundry facilities. Harris Beach serves as an excellent base for exploring the southern Oregon coast. The Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor, a stunning 12-mile stretch of coastal scenery with numerous viewpoints and trail access to the Oregon Coast Trail, begins just three miles north of the park. The town of Brookings is nearby for supplies and services.
