Closed — Closed for the season. Typically operates from late April through October 31. Reservations open up to 6 months in advance through Recreation.gov. Park Central Road may close with short notice during winter due to inclement weather.

Owens Creek Campground provides primitive camping in a scenic wooded setting within Catoctin Mountain Park, just five miles from Thurmont, Maryland. The campground features 50 non-hookup sites limited to five people or immediate family per site, with three ADA-accessible sites available. Maximum trailer length is 22 feet and maximum RV length is 30 feet, with three pull-through sites (12, 39, and 43) available. Each site is equipped with a tent pad (minimum 12' x 12'), picnic table, and fire ring, with all tents required to fit on the designated pad. The campground surrounds visitors with a rolling landscape perfect for hiking, with Owens Creek flowing past to create a peaceful natural setting. Flush toilets, hot showers, and drinking water are centrally located within the campground. The Deerfield Nature Trail connects directly from the campground as a 1.5-mile loop linking to the park's western trail system, while the nearby Browns Farm Trail in Owens Creek Picnic Area offers historical interpretation. Catoctin Mountain Park's 25 miles of trails range from easy to strenuous, providing extensive hiking opportunities through forests that display seasonal beauty from spring wildflowers to fall foliage.

From Route 77 (Catoctin Mountain Park exit), travel approximately 6 miles west past Park Central Road and the visitor center, then turn right onto Foxville-Deerfield Road. Keep left at the fork and continue approximately 1 mile, then turn left into the campground entrance.
