About
Green River Float-in Campsites offers 17 primitive riverside camps along Section B of the Green River, positioned between the Little Hole boat launch and Browns Park. This section of river flows through remote high desert canyon country, where limited access allows healthy brown trout populations to thrive and visitors can experience the same waters explored by John Wesley Powell and William Ashley. Most sites are accessible only by boat or raft, though select camps near Little Hole can be reached on foot via unofficial trails. Each campsite includes a picnic table, fire ring with benches, tent pads, and a blind for portable toilet systems. Vault toilets are located near Cottonwood Camp and Red Creek Camp. No potable water is available at any site. The campsites are surrounded by juniper, cottonwood, and ponderosa pine in a high desert environment with wildflowers blooming during summer. The Green River here offers world-class fishing for rainbow, brown, and cutthroat trout in glassy clear water flowing below Flaming Gorge Dam. Boaters must carry a bail bucket, throw line, extra oar, and wear life jackets while on the water. Motors are not allowed. The Forest Service requires portable toilet systems for all campers. A Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area Use Pass is required. Launch points include Spillway Boat Ramp and Little Hole, with sites ranging from 1 to 5 miles downstream from Little Hole.
