About
Bootleg River Camp is a remote river camping site situated on a small sandy bench along the north side of the Green River in the Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area. Located 8.42 miles downstream from Flaming Gorge Dam and 1.22 miles below Little Hole, this primitive campsite is accessible only by boat or on foot, making it an ideal destination for river floaters and hikers seeking a backcountry experience along the renowned Green River. The site features basic amenities including one table, one fire ring, two tent pads, a portable toilet screen, and two benches, with natural shade provided by the surrounding vegetation of pinyon pine, juniper, sagebrush, ponderosa pine, and river bottom shrubs and grasses. The campsite can accommodate up to 6 people and operates on a reservation system through Recreation.gov. All campers are required to bring their own portable toilet system, as there are no restroom facilities on site. Additionally, there are no garbage facilities or potable water available, so visitors must be self-sufficient and pack out all trash. The site is located in Section B of the Green River camps and offers excellent access to world-class fishing, boating, and scenic canyon exploration. A Flaming Gorge National Recreation Area pass is required in addition to the camping fee.
