About

Grayback Campground occupies a scenic forested setting in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest, positioned along Sucker Creek approximately 12 miles east of Cave Junction on Oregon Caves Highway (Highway 46). Oregon Caves National Monument lies just 5 miles further up the road, making this an ideal basecamp for exploring the caves and surrounding Illinois Valley biodiversity. The campground offers 39 tent-sites, several of which border Sucker Creek where campers can wade and cool off during summer months. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit. Facilities include vault toilets, potable water from faucets, and garbage disposal. A campground host is present during the operating season. A pleasant day-use area features a small amphitheater and large picnic shelters. The 1-mile Grayback Interpretive Trail provides an accessible loop hike suitable for families, passing Grayback Creek and circling the historic Civilian Conservation Corps camp at Cedar Guard Station. Camping is first-come-first-served with a 14-day limit. No hookups or dump station are available.
