About
West Branch Campground is a small, primitive campground with 10 family sites scattered along the West Branch of Indian Creek in the Klamath National Forest. Known for being quiet, secluded, and tranquil, the campground sits beneath shady tree cover approximately 12 miles north of Happy Camp via Indian Creek Road (Forest Road 48). The site has historical significance dating to the Great Depression when the Civilian Conservation Corps built a camp here for crews constructing the Greyback Road. It later served as a fire guard station before becoming a public campground. This is a primitive, no-fee campground with vault toilets but no potable water or trash service. Campers must bring all drinking and cooking water and pack out all trash. A short drive north leads to the Indian Creek Brewer Spruce Botanical Area, home to a vigorous stand of Brewer spruce found only in the Klamath Mountains.
Directions
From Happy Camp, travel north on Indian Creek Road (Forest Service Road 48) approximately 12 miles. The campground is on the right.
