Open

Open for camping. No reservations required; all sites are first-come, first-served. Illinois River Corridor Seasonal Alcohol Prohibition is in effect May 22 through September 30, 2026. Maximum stay is 14 days.

About

Sixmile Campground offers a rustic camping experience along the Wild and Scenic Illinois River in the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. The small campground features 4 walk-in tent sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit for campfires. Two vault toilets are located within walking distance of the camping area. Across the road, two covered picnic shelters provide additional day-use options. This is a true backcountry-style experience with no potable water, no trash service, and no hookups. Campers should arrive fully prepared with their own water supply and be ready to pack out all garbage. The campground enforces quiet hours from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. and a maximum stay of 14 consecutive days. The Illinois River corridor is popular for whitewater rafting, kayaking, fishing, and swimming. A seasonal alcohol prohibition is in effect along the recreational section of the river from late May through September. Dogs are welcome but must remain on leash at all times.

Directions

From Selma, OR, turn off Highway 199 onto Illinois River Road (Forest Road 4301). Travel approximately 6 miles. Just before the Six Mile Day Use Area, take the spur road to the right to reach the parking area for the walk-in campsites.
