About

Josephine Creek Campground is a small, free primitive campground located in the Wild Rivers Ranger District of Oregon's Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest. Situated above Josephine Creek near the Illinois River, it lies within the Days Gulch Botanical Area, offering access to the diverse flora of this ecologically significant region. The campground has just six sites, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit. A vault toilet is available, but there is no potable water and no trash service, so campers must pack out all waste and bring their own drinking water. The setting is rustic and quiet, with moderate use levels making it a good option for those seeking solitude. Access is via Forest Road 4201, with the last 3.2 miles on gravel after pavement ends. The campground operates seasonally, typically from late March through late September. Dogs are welcome on leash, and the 14-day stay limit applies.
