About
Gooseberry Reservoir Campground is located in a beautiful mountain valley in an open sagebrush meadow at 8,400 feet elevation on the Ferron/Price Ranger District of the Manti-La Sal National Forest. The campground features 16 sites with long parking spurs that easily accommodate large RVs, though there are no trees or shade. Each site offers views of Gooseberry Reservoir and the surrounding mountains dotted with aspens, fir trees, and sagebrush. The 79-acre reservoir provides good fishing for cutthroat and rainbow trout and is open to hand-powered watercraft only with no boat ramp available. The Great Western Trail runs adjacent to the campground, offering excellent opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and ATV/OHV riding. Mammoth Guard Station is located just one mile south. A well-maintained dirt road provides good access for all vehicles. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with vault toilets but no potable water or garbage service. Campers must bring their own water and remove all trash upon departure. Sites are reservable through Recreation.gov with a modest nightly fee.
