About

Gooseberry Reservoir Campground occupies a scenic mountain valley in the Manti-La Sal National Forest, surrounded by aspen, fir, and sagebrush-covered slopes. At 8,400 feet elevation, the campground sits in an open meadow with unobstructed views of the reservoir from every site. The lack of trees means no shade, but the trade-off is panoramic scenery of the surrounding mountains. The reservoir supports cutthroat and rainbow trout and is open to hand-powered watercraft only with no boat ramp. The Great Western Trail runs adjacent to the campground, providing access for hiking, mountain biking, and OHV riding. Mammoth Guard Station is located one mile south. This is a pack-it-in, pack-it-out facility with no potable water, garbage service, or hookups. Vault toilets are provided. The well-maintained dirt access road and long parking spurs make this campground accessible to large RVs despite its remote location.
