About
Gooseberry Creek Campground is nestled in a beautiful mountain valley on the Wasatch Plateau within the Manti-La Sal National Forest. At 8,500 feet elevation, the campground occupies an aspen-covered hillside dotted with mature fir trees. Some sites are sunny with little tree cover while others offer ample shade. Sagebrush, grasses, and summer wildflowers fill the scenic valley. Gooseberry Reservoir is visible from several campsites and offers excellent cutthroat and rainbow trout fishing as well as canoeing. The Great Western Trail passes near the campground, providing opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, and ATV/OHV riding. The campground features vault toilets and potable water but operates as a pack-it-out facility with no trash collection. The campground has 10 individual first-come, first-served sites and one reservable group site with large picnic tables, serving tables, and a fire ring. Sites accommodate vehicles up to 30 feet on gravel back-in driveways. A well-maintained dirt road provides access suitable for cars and RVs.
