Snow showers, and lake effect snow bands have set up across the region early this morning. Snow could be locally heavy at times, reducing visibility down to 1/4 mile. This coupled with the strong gusty winds, blowing snow and cold temperatures will create snow covered and slippery road conditions. Localized accumulations of 2 or 3 inches will be possible through 8 AM EST. If you are traveling this morning be prepared for rapidly changing weather and road conditions. Plan some extra time to reach your destination safely.

Winds gusting as high as 50 mph will lead to blowing and drifting snow and near whiteout conditions. * WHERE...Southern Herkimer County. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow bands to the north and just south of the New York Thruway this morning continue through today. These snow bands remain in place today before lifting further northward on Wednesday. Snowfall rates will reach 0.5 to 1 inch per hour at times.

Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Lake effect snow will set up near and just south of the New York Thruway and remain in place through Tuesday before lifting northward on Wednesday. Snowfall rates may reach 0.5 inch per hour at times.

* WHAT...West winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * WHERE...Portions of northwestern Connecticut, western Massachusetts, eastern New York, and southern Vermont. * WHEN...Until 7 PM EST this evening. * IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Strong westerly winds continue today, especially across the eastern Catskills, Mohawk Valley, Greater Capital District, northern Taconics, and southern Vermont. Blowing and drifting snow will occur today due to these gusty winds, where treated roadways can be re-covered in snow.

Winds gusting as high as 50 mph. * WHERE...Madison, Northern Oneida, Onondaga, and Southern Oneida Counties. * WHEN...Until 7 AM EST Wednesday. * IMPACTS...Visibilities likely drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Whiteout conditions are expected and will make travel treacherous and potentially life-threatening. Occasional blizzard conditions are likely to occur. Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Snowfall rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour possible, with up to 3 inches per hour possible through Tuesday morning. Widespread blowing snow will create whiteout conditions and occasional blizzard conditions.
