Mine Kill State Park
The park is currently closed for the season. Facilities typically operate from Memorial Day weekend through the summer season. Reservations for tent shelters and pavilions open 9 months in advance.
About
Mine Kill State Park sits in the scenic Schoharie Valley, offering a mix of fields, forests, and water-based recreation centered around the Blenheim-Gilboa Power Project's lower reservoir. The park is named for Mine Kill Falls, an 80-foot waterfall visible from an overlook platform. Despite being listed on reservation systems, the park does not offer traditional individual campsites for overnight camping. Instead, it provides group rental facilities: three tent shelters (Driftwood, Eagle's View, and Playground Paradise) accommodating 45-65 people, and the Mid-Level Pavilion for up to 100 people. These are designed for group picnics and events rather than overnight stays. Recreation options include three swimming pools (Olympic-size, diving tank, and wading pool) available at no charge during summer months, along with a disc golf course with equipment rentals. The 500-acre lower reservoir is stocked with trout and walleye and supports boating, kayaking, and water skiing. Eight miles of trails wind through the park for hiking and mountain biking. Through an agreement with the New York Power Authority, picnic shelter reservations are available free of charge.
