About

Perched atop a hill in southern Otsego County, Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park provides spectacular views to the south and west across 229 acres of diverse landscape. Nearly two-thirds of the park is blanketed by hardwood forests intermixed with conifer plantations, while the remainder features gently rolling meadowlands and two ponds. Named for the generous New York couple who donated the land to the state, the park opened in 2001 and added six fully furnished cottages in 2006. The cottages accommodate up to eight people each and come equipped with full bathrooms with showers, kitchens with refrigerators, stoves, microwaves, cooking utensils and dishes, televisions, DVD players, and all bedding. Each cottage has an outdoor picnic table, charcoal grill, and fire pit. Cottage rentals include access to swimming facilities at nearby Glimmerglass State Park. Pets are not permitted in the cottages. The park offers extensive hiking trails throughout its forested areas, a picnic pavilion available for events, and catch-and-release fishing in the woodland stream. Winter activities include cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobile trails connecting to the state corridor trail system. The park's expansive views and tranquil surroundings make it particularly popular among birdwatchers and nature lovers. Located just a short drive from Cooperstown and the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Betty and Wilbur Davis State Park provides a peaceful retreat with modern comforts.
