About

Gilbert Lake State Park's lake and three ponds lie in wooded, hilly terrain in the foothills of the Catskills in Otsego County. The park offers 135 campsites divided between two campgrounds: Hilltop (sites 1-57) with 29 electric sites, and Deer Run (sites 58-135) with 40 electric sites and 46 non-electric sites. Additionally, 33 cabins are available for weekly rentals. The park features a clean sandy beach with lifeguards during summer months, boat rentals including kayaks and paddleboards, and allows cartop boats with electric trolling motors. Recreational opportunities abound with disc golf, fishing, hunting in season, and over 12 miles of interconnecting trails suitable for hiking, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. The park includes pavilions for group events, playgrounds, a softball field, and food concessions. Unique to Gilbert Lake is the New York State Civilian Conservation Corps Museum, featuring exhibits and memorabilia about the CCC's work throughout New York and the United States. Modern amenities include hot showers, flush toilets, a dump station, and accessible facilities including cabins and a beach wheelchair for terrain and water access.
