About
Bear Spring Mountain Campground sits within the Bear Spring Mountain Wildlife Management Area in the western reaches of the Catskill Forest Preserve. The 37 tent and trailer sites are divided between the Launt Pond Area, which has flush toilets, hot showers, and direct pond access, and the more secluded Spruce Grove Area with vault toilets. Each site has a fire ring and picnic table. Three ADA-accessible sites are available. The campground's centerpiece is Launt Pond, offering a sandy swimming beach, fishing, and non-motorized boat rentals. A trailer dump station, recycling center, and firewood sales are on-site. Beyond the campground, 24 miles of multi-use trails wind through the surrounding wildlife management area, open to hiking, mountain biking, cross-country skiing, and horseback riding. Equestrian campers have dedicated facilities including 24 tie stalls. This is rustic camping without hookups, ideal for tenters and self-contained RVs seeking a quiet Catskills retreat. Sites accommodate trailers up to 40 feet on back-in pads. Pets are welcome with proof of current rabies vaccination.
