Bear Spring Mountain Campground is located in the western end of the Catskill Forest Preserve in Delaware County, offering rustic camping across two distinct areas. The main Launt Pond Area and the Spruce Grove Area (3.5 miles from the campground office) provide 37 tent and trailer sites. The Launt Pond Area features flush toilets, hot showers, a recycling center, and trailer dump station, while Spruce Grove has pit toilets with access to main area amenities. The campground offers excellent recreation opportunities including a sand beach on Launt Pond, boat launch, and rowboat, canoe, and kayak rentals (motorboats prohibited). Launt Pond is stocked with brown trout each spring. The day use area includes picnic tables, grills, playground, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, and pavilion rental. For equestrian enthusiasts, Spruce Grove features 24 horse tie stalls and a horse-accessible ramp, connecting to 24 miles of multi-use trails throughout the Bear Springs Wildlife Management Area. The campground is managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and is located 4-5 miles from Shinhopple on East Trout Brook Road. Three ADA-accessible campsites are available (sites 15, 17, and 25), along with accessible fishing/viewing platforms and shower facilities.

Directions

From Route 17 (Quickway) to Exit 90, East Branch take Route 30 north to Shinhopple; turn left on East Trout Brook Road, proceed 4-5 miles, campground is on right.
