About
French Creek State Park encompasses 7,730 acres in Berks and Chester counties, making it the largest block of contiguous forest between Washington D.C. and New York City. The campground offers 195 individual campsites spread across multiple loops, with options ranging from rustic non-electric sites to full-hookup sites featuring 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. Back-in sites range from 30 to 75 feet, and select pull-through sites accommodate larger rigs. Beyond traditional camping, the park provides 10 modern cabins sleeping 6 guests year-round, 3 camping cottages sleeping 5 each, and 2 yurts sleeping 4. Glamping sites are launching in 2026 with 10 sites accommodating 4-6 guests. Campground amenities include warm showers, flush toilets, a dump station, fire rings, picnic tables, and a playground. A concession-run swimming pool operates seasonally for an additional fee. Recreational opportunities abound with extensive hiking and biking trails, fishing and boating on Hopewell and Scotts Run lakes, and seasonal hunting. The park's designation as an Important Bird Area and Important Mammal Area makes it excellent for wildlife observation. Educational programs led by the park naturalist run spring through fall.
