About

Fort Washington State Park encompasses 493 acres between Fort Washington and Flourtown in eastern Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. The park holds significant Revolutionary War history, named for the temporary fort built by George Washington's troops in fall 1777 before their march to Valley Forge. Today the park offers rustic organized group tenting year-round, with four group tent sites (A, B, C, D) that each accommodate 20 to 100 people, for a maximum total capacity of 220 campers. The group camping area is rustic, featuring pit toilets, potable water, and picnic tables. This is not individual or RV camping; sites are designed for organized groups such as scouts, church groups, and similar organizations. The park operates a carry-in/carry-out trash program with no collection facilities on site. Pets are permitted only in designated areas. Beyond camping, visitors enjoy hiking and biking trails, disc golf, fishing, and seasonal raptor migration viewing from the Observation Deck at Militia Hill. The park is a popular destination for birders and nature enthusiasts in the greater Philadelphia area.
