Alapocas Run State Park is a day-use park only with no overnight camping. The park is open daily from 8:00 AM to sunset. The pavilion and picnic area are available for reservation. Entrance fees are in effect March 1 through November 30.

* WHAT...Dangerously hot conditions with heat index values between 105 and 115 degrees expected each day. * WHERE...Portions of northern Delaware, central and southern New Jersey, and southeast Pennsylvania. * WHEN...Until 8 PM EDT Saturday. * IMPACTS...Heat related illnesses increase significantly during extreme heat and high humidity events. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Very warm low temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s at night will not offer any relief from the heat. This combined with multiple days of near record breaking temperatures will exacerbate the impacts from the heat and humidity. The hottest conditions are expected to occur today through Friday.

Alapocas Run State Park is a 359-acre day-use recreation area situated along Brandywine Creek and its Alapocas Run tributary in north Wilmington, Delaware. The park is located just off I-95 at Route 202 Concord Pike near the intersection of Foulk and Weldin Roads. The park offers over 2 miles of the Northern Delaware Greenway Trail plus the 0.7-mile Alapocas Woods Trail with a PawPaw loop extension. A unique feature is the rock climbing wall utilizing the walls of an old granite quarry. The 26,000-square-foot Can-Do Playground is fully accessible to children with disabilities. Three athletic fields are available for team sports, and the adjacent Rock Manor Golf Course is open to the public. The historic Blue Ball Barn, once an abandoned dairy barn built by Alfred I. DuPont, has been restored and houses the Delaware Folk Art Collection featuring over 120 works by 50 local artists. The barn also offers conference and meeting rooms for rent. A pavilion and picnic area with outdoor grills is available for day-use reservations. This park does not have overnight camping facilities.
