About
FR 195 Campground is one of the most secluded designated dispersed camping areas in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest. Located along Forest Road 195 off the scenic Rim Road, this primitive camping area offers a handful of dispersed campsites surrounded by dense ponderosa pine forest near the Mogollon Rim. The campground sits at approximately 7,600 feet elevation and provides a quiet, remote camping experience away from developed facilities.
As a designated dispersed camping area, FR 195 offers minimal amenities. Vault toilets are available on-site, but there is no potable water, electricity, or other services. Campers must bring their own water and be prepared to pack out all trash. The area sees heavy use during peak season due to its proximity to the Rim Road corridor and access to nearby recreational opportunities including hiking, mountain biking, and exploring the Mogollon Rim.
The campground is seasonally accessible, typically closed from late fall through mid-April due to snow and winter road conditions. Standard Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest regulations apply, including a 14-day stay limit within any 30-day period. Camping is first-come, first-served with no reservations or fees. High-clearance vehicles are recommended as forest roads can be rough, especially during wet conditions.
