About

Crook Campground is a group campground situated in a tall ponderosa pine forest near Woods Canyon Lake in the Rim Lakes Recreation Area of north-central Arizona. At 7,500 feet elevation on the Mogollon Rim, the campground offers a cool summer retreat with opportunities for large group gatherings. The campground is arranged in two loops with a cul-de-sac design. Each loop has a group area that can host up to 110 campers and 26 vehicles with parallel parking only. Both RVs and tents are accommodated, though some areas are better suited for RVs. A picnic shelter is located in the middle of each group use area, and each site includes picnic tables and fire pits. Recreation opportunities are plentiful. Woods Canyon Lake, about three-quarters of a mile away, offers fishing and boating with electric motors only. The paved Meadow Trail borders the campground and connects to Woods Canyon Lake one mile north and the Rim Lakes Vista Trail a quarter mile south, providing spectacular views of the Mogollon Rim. Wildlife viewing includes deer, elk, birds, and squirrels. Summer temperatures are pleasant due to the elevation, though afternoon thunderstorms are common from late June through August.
