Fr 169 Campground

Closed — Closed for the season due to snow and weather conditions. Reopens April 15.

About

FR 169 Campground is a dispersed camping area situated in the Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests in Coconino County, Arizona. Located north of Woods Canyon Lake, this primitive camping area follows Forest Road 169 through ponderosa pine forests at high elevation. As a dispersed camping area, FR 169 offers numerous unofficial camping spots where visitors can set up camp at no charge, following standard Forest Service dispersed camping guidelines. The area provides a secluded, backcountry camping experience with minimal amenities. While basic restrooms are available, there is no potable water on-site, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The remote location and primitive conditions make this an ideal destination for self-sufficient campers seeking solitude and a true wilderness experience away from developed campgrounds. Due to its high elevation and remote location, FR 169 Campground is subject to seasonal closures when snow and weather conditions make the area inaccessible. The surrounding Apache-Sitgreaves National Forests offer opportunities for hiking, wildlife viewing, and exploring the Mogollon Rim country made famous by author Zane Grey.
