About
Fort Casey Historical State Park is a 999-acre marine camping park located on the western shore of Whidbey Island, offering a unique blend of military history and natural beauty. The park features 35 campsites, including 21 standard tent sites and 14 utility sites with water and electrical hookups. Four of the hookup sites are beachfront pull-through sites ideal for RVs. The campground has one restroom and one shower facility. The park preserves a coast artillery post built in the 1890s to defend Puget Sound, featuring historic 10-inch and 3-inch guns on display. Visitors can climb the Admiralty Head Lighthouse tower and explore the interpretive center and gift shop, which are open noon to 4 p.m. seasonally. The park offers 1.8 miles of hiking trails and provides access to the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail, which stretches from Olympic National Park to Montana. With over 10,810 feet of saltwater shoreline on Admiralty Inlet, the park offers excellent opportunities for beachcombing, fishing, boating, and scuba diving at the Keystone Underwater Dive Park. The location provides stunning views of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Olympic Mountains. Campers should be aware that U.S. Navy jets from nearby Naval Air Station Whidbey Island may fly over the campground during training missions, creating occasional noise.
