About
Fort Ebey State Park occupies a former World War II coastal defense installation on central Whidbey Island within Ebey's Landing National Historical Reserve. The campground sits atop forested bluffs overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca, offering 39 standard tent and RV sites plus 11 partial-hookup sites with water and electricity. Maximum site lengths accommodate most extra-large RVs, though availability is limited. The park preserves two 6-inch gun emplacements built in 1942 to defend against potential Japanese naval attacks. Visitors can explore the concrete bunkers and underground ammunition storage rooms. Twenty-five miles of trails wind through second-growth forest, connecting to adjacent Ebey's Landing trails and Lake Pondilla. Below the bluffs, Point Partridge beach draws surfers and paragliders when conditions align. Note that U.S. Navy jets from nearby NAS Whidbey conduct training missions that may create noise depending on flight patterns and wind direction.
Directions
From the Clinton-Mukilteo ferry terminal, drive north on State Route 525 for approximately 23 miles. Turn left onto Libbey Road, then left onto Hill Valley Drive. The park entrance is at 400 Hill Valley Drive, Coupeville.
