About
Camano Island State Park Campground is a 173-acre camping destination located 14 miles southwest of Stanwood in Island County, featuring 6,700 feet of rocky shoreline along Saratoga Passage. The campground offers 77 standard reservable campsites split between two loops, with the lower loop open year-round and the upper loop operating seasonally from May through September. The upper loop includes pull-through sites better suited for RVs. Additional camping options include five forest cabins that sleep up to five people each, a group camp accommodating up to 100 people, two hiker/biker sites available first-come, first-served, and one primitive Cascadia Marine Trail site for watercraft arrivals. The park features four miles of hiking and biking trails through forested areas, with connections to nearby Cama Beach Historical State Park. Visitors enjoy sweeping views of Puget Sound, the Olympic Mountains, and Mount Rainier from various vantage points. Recreation activities include boating via the on-site boat launch, beachcombing along the rocky shoreline, fishing, crabbing, kayaking, and wildlife viewing. Common wildlife sightings include deer, eagles, herons, harbor seals, and occasionally orcas and gray whales. The park offers interpretive programs on summer Saturdays covering topics from marine life to conservation. Camping amenities include restrooms with showers, fire pits at each site, picnic tables, and a dump station. A kitchen shelter with electricity and a wood stove is available for reservation and can accommodate groups. Park facilities include picnic shelters, an amphitheater, and accessible features throughout. The park enforces Washington State's Discover Pass requirement and maintains standard check-in and checkout times.
