About
Cranberry Lake Campground is the flagship camping destination at Deception Pass State Park, offering 230 campsites hidden among old-growth forest on Whidbey Island. The campground is divided into the Forest Loop and Lower Loops, providing both tent sites and utility sites with hookups. Located between North Beach, West Beach, and the freshwater Cranberry Lake, campers enjoy easy access to swimming, paddling, and miles of hiking trails including connections to the Pacific Northwest National Scenic Trail and summit trails to Goose Rock. The campground features modern amenities including hot showers, flush restrooms, picnic tables, and fire pits at each site. During the camping season, the Lake Store offers firewood, ice cream, camping supplies, and gifts, while Campstuff Coffee serves espresso from a vintage trailer. The warmer waters of Cranberry Lake make it ideal for swimming compared to the ocean beaches, and kayak rentals are available seasonally. Deception Pass State Park spans two islands connected by the iconic Deception Pass Bridge, offering spectacular ocean views, tide pools at Rosario Beach, and diverse ecosystems from rocky cliffs to quiet forests. A Discover Pass is required for parking. Current storm damage has limited access to some areas including West Beach parking and the Cranberry Lake boat launch.
Directions
From Seattle, drive north on I-5 to exit 230, then travel 18 miles west on SR 20 toward Oak Harbor. The park entrance is on the right, one mile south of Deception Pass Bridge.
