* WHAT...Hot conditions with high temperatures up to 80 to 85 degrees and low temperatures down to 55 to 60 degrees expected. This will pose a moderate risk of heat-related illness. * WHERE...Island County and San Juan County. * WHEN...From 11 AM Sunday to 5 AM PDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Heat will significantly increase the risk of heat-related illnesses for those who are sensitive to heat, especially those without effective cooling or adequate hydration.
Herbicide Treatments at Ebey's Reserve
Please be advised that NPS personnel will be treating invasive non-native grasses at the Prairie Overlook.
Race the Reserve at Overlook
The Race the Reserve Marathon, Half Marathon, 10k and 5k will be running August 11th along the Pratt Loop Trail and the Ebey's Ridge Trail. Hikers should be advised, and vehicle traffic may be affected. Use caution when driving to the Prairie Overlook.
Wildfire Smoke Alert
As of 8/20, There is a Stage 1 air quality burn ban in effect in Island County and throughout Ebey's Reserve until further notice. This ban includes recreational campfires & fire pits. Violators could face fines and other enforcement actions.
Kettles Trail Maintenance
Island County Public Works will begin Kettles Trail maintenance during the second week of November, 2018. This will impact bicycles & pedestrian traffic. The wooden bridge trail crossings between Ebey Road and Sherman Road will also be replaced.
