About
Fort Worden Beach Campground occupies a prime location between the bluffs and beaches of Point Wilson on Washington's Olympic Peninsula. The 50 full-hookup sites are level and spacious, with many offering direct views of Admiralty Inlet where it meets Puget Sound. Each site is equipped with water, electric, and sewer connections, plus a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. Maximum site length is 75 feet, though availability for larger rigs is limited. Modern restroom facilities with flush toilets and hot showers serve the campground, along with a dump station.
The campground is part of a 432-acre historic state park that served as a key coastal defense installation from the late 1890s through the post-WWI era. Campers can explore numerous concrete bunkers and artillery emplacements scattered throughout the woods and along the beach. The iconic Point Wilson Lighthouse stands at the tip of the point, and over two miles of saltwater shoreline provide opportunities for beachcombing, tidepooling, and watching marine traffic. The park also hosts the Port Townsend Marine Science Center.
On-site amenities include the Cable House Canteen for camping supplies, firewood, snacks, and essentials. WiFi is available in the park, with the strongest signal near the Commons fireplace. Port Townsend, a Victorian seaport town with restaurants, galleries, and shops, is just minutes away. Reservations are strongly recommended year-round as the campground is extremely popular.
Directions
From downtown Port Townsend, head north on Water Street, then turn right onto Cherry Street. Continue onto Fort Worden Way and follow signs to the park entrance.
