About

Forestville/Mystery Cave State Park's equestrian campground draws more horseback riders than any other Minnesota state park, offering 17 miles of horse trails through the scenic bluff country of Fillmore County. The campground is designed specifically for campers with horses, with each site featuring hitching rails or high lines, a picnic table, and a fire ring with grill. Vault toilets and water are available nearby, along with manure bins for waste management. The campground offers both electric and non-electric sites, with many pull-through options that accommodate horse trailers. Electric sites add $10 per night to the base rate. The season typically runs from May 1 through November 1. Riders over 16 years old need a Horse Pass for DNR-managed trails. Reservations can be made up to 120 days in advance through the Minnesota DNR reservation system online or by phone. This is a horse-required campground, meaning visitors must bring their own horse to camp here.
