About

Lake Louise Equestrian Campground is one of twelve Minnesota state park campgrounds designed specifically to accommodate horses and their riders. Located within Lake Louise State Park near LeRoy, the campground offers six campsites that combine overnight camping with direct access to the park's equestrian trail network. Each site is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring with grill, hitching rail, water access, and primitive vault toilets, along with manure bins for proper waste management. The equestrian area serves as the starting point for horse trails that wind through the park's diverse landscape of meadows and hardwood forests. Trailer parking is available at the trailhead. The park itself has historical roots dating to the late 1800s when the area served as Wildwood Park for the town of LeRoy before being donated to the state in 1962. Beyond the equestrian campground, Lake Louise State Park offers paddling opportunities on Lake Louise and the Little Iowa River, swimming at the beach, and connections to the paved Shooting Star State Trail. Riders over 16 using DNR horse trails must purchase a Horse Pass.
