An Air Quality Alert has been issued by the following agencies: Washington Department of Ecology An Air Quality Alert has been issued for Chelan, Douglas, and Okanogan Counties until further notice due to current and expected smoke from regional fires. Particulate matter (PM2.5) may reach Unhealthy levels for areas downwind from active wildfires. Be sure to check air monitors in your area before outdoor activities. When air quality is Unhealthy, everyone should reduce exposure. Limit time outside, avoid strenuous outdoor activity, and follow tips for cleaner indoor air.

About

Nestled at 1,900 feet elevation in a forest canopy of pine and fir on the banks of Icicle Creek, Eightmile Campground provides a peaceful base for exploring the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. The campground has 41 single-family sites and 4 double-family sites, with 60% available by reservation through Recreation.gov and 40% held for first-come, first-served campers. The area offers diverse recreation including the 10.6-mile Fourth of July Trail that climbs from forest into alpine meadows with spectacular views of the Stuart Mountain Range and Icicle Valley. Anglers can fish for rainbow and cutthroat trout in nearby Toketie Lake, while rock climbers can access Icicle Buttress. The campground is located along Icicle Road, making it convenient for exploring the greater Icicle Creek corridor. All sites include picnic tables and fire rings. Drinking water is available via hand pumps. Three vault toilets serve the campground. No electric hookups are available. A separate group site accommodating up to 70 people can be reserved.

Directions

From Leavenworth, travel southwest on US-2 West. Turn left onto Icicle Road and follow for about 7-8 miles. Keep left to continue onto Forest Road 112. The campground is on the left.
