About
Eightmile Campground is located along Icicle Creek in Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, 8 miles southwest of Leavenworth. The campground sits in a dense forest of pine and fir at approximately 4,000 feet elevation. With 41 single family sites and 4 double sites, it operates on a mixed reservation system where 60% of sites can be reserved through Recreation.gov and 40% remain first-come, first-served. All sites include picnic tables and fire rings. The location provides excellent access to Alpine Lakes Wilderness recreation. The nearby Fourth of July Trail offers a challenging 10.6-mile day hike that climbs from forested valleys through mountain meadows with views of the Stuart Mountain Range and Icicle Valley. Anglers can fish for rainbow and cutthroat trout in Icicle Creek and nearby Toketie Lake. The campground is popular for mountain biking, with numerous trails accessible from the area. Icicle River Road provides the primary access, extending from Highway 2 through Leavenworth. The campground can accommodate trailers up to 50 feet. Water is available via hand pumps throughout the campground, and vault toilets serve the facility. The area experiences heavy use during the summer season due to its proximity to Leavenworth and quality trail access.
