Water begins damaging Wood Road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 7:30 PM PDT Saturday the stage was 20.5 feet. - Bankfull stage is 19.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 7:30 PM PDT Saturday was 20.6 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to remain near 20.6 feet tonight. Johnny Creek Campground is situated in a forested setting along Icicle Creek Road in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest, approximately 12 miles southwest of Leavenworth. The campground is divided into two sections: Upper Johnny Creek above Icicle Road and Lower Johnny Creek closer to Icicle Creek at their confluence. Together they provide 56 single campsites and 9 double sites, all available on a first-come, first-served basis. The campground offers vault toilets and hand-pumped drinking water. Each site includes a picnic table and fire pit. The facility can accommodate RVs and trailers up to 50 feet, with a maximum of two vehicles per site. Payment can be made on-site via cash, check, or using the Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature. Interagency Senior and Access passes provide 50% discount on single campsites. The location provides access to hiking, backpacking, rock and mountain climbing, and fishing opportunities along Icicle Creek. The area sees heavy use during the summer season. The campground is typically closed during winter months due to snow.
Directions
From Leavenworth, head southwest on US-2 West for 0.8 mile. Turn left onto Icicle Road/Forest Road 7600 and continue for about 11.5 miles. The campground will be on the left.
