For the Stehekin River...including Stehekin...Minor flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and is forecast to continue. * WHERE...Stehekin River at Stehekin. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 20.5 feet, water inundates some properties and overtops the temporary corduroy bridge. Company Creek Road inundated at northern end. Battalion Creek culverts are beginning to be overtopped. Water begins damaging Wood Road. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 11:30 AM PDT Thursday the stage was 20.6 feet. - Bankfull stage is 19.5 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 11:30 AM PDT Thursday was 20.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to 21.5 feet by late Saturday morning. Nestled in a forest canopy of pine and fir on the banks of Icicle Creek, Icicle Group Campground offers a peaceful setting for groups and large gatherings within Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. This walk-in tent-only campground features a single group site that accommodates up to 30 people and six vehicles, with parking located approximately 500 feet from the camping area. The campground provides access to extensive outdoor recreation opportunities. Nearby Fourth of July Trail offers challenging terrain with expansive ridge line views, climbing from 4,000 feet through mountain meadows with spectacular views of the Stuart Mountain Range and Icicle Valley. Anglers can fish for rainbow and cutthroat trout in nearby Toketie Lake, while numerous trails throughout the area provide excellent biking and hiking opportunities. The surrounding Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest features stunning scenic diversity, from high glaciated alpine peaks to valleys of old-growth forest. The nearby Alpine Lakes Wilderness encompasses over 362,000 acres with more than 700 lakes and mountain ponds dotting the glacier-carved terrain. The landscape transitions from wet Douglas fir and cedar forests to firs and mountain hemlock, opening to expansive meadows and ending with dry ponderosa pine forestland.

Directions

From the west, take Highway 2 east through Monroe and over Stevens Pass. Turn right on Icicle River Road and follow for approximately 10.2 miles. The campground will be on the left. From the east, take Highway 2 west through Leavenworth. Turn left on Icicle River Road and follow approximately 10.2 miles to the campground on the left.
