About
Nestled in a forest canopy of pine and fir at 2,300 feet elevation on the banks of Icicle Creek, Icicle Group Campground provides a quiet retreat for groups seeking a primitive camping experience in the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Located approximately 10.2 miles from Leavenworth on Icicle Road, this tent-only site accommodates up to 30 people and requires a short 500-foot walk from the parking area to reach the camping area. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the surrounding wilderness. Day hikers can tackle the challenging 10.6-mile Fourth of July Trail, which climbs from 4,000 feet through mountain meadows with spectacular views of the Stuart Mountain Range and Icicle Valley. Anglers can cast for rainbow and cutthroat trout in nearby Toketie Lake, while the network of trails provides opportunities for mountain biking. Facilities are basic: a fire pit, picnic tables, and a portable toilet are provided seasonally. There is no potable water, so groups must bring adequate supplies for drinking and cooking. Icicle Creek provides a water source for dishwashing and fire extinguishing only.
