About
Located at the confluence of Icicle Creek and Chatter Creek about 16 miles from Leavenworth, Chatter Creek Group Site offers a serene forest setting for large gatherings. The single group site accommodates up to 45 people and must be reserved in advance through Recreation.gov. The site is equipped with a small group shelter featuring a fireplace, picnic tables, and a group campfire ring beneath a canopy of pine and fir trees. The campground serves as an excellent base for outdoor recreation year-round. The nearby Icicle Gorge Loop Trail offers easy valley-bottom hiking along Icicle Creek, while the steeper Chatter Creek Trail provides a more challenging option through thick underbrush. Anglers can cast for trout in the pools along Chatter Creek's pebble-strewn banks. Winter activities including skiing, snowmobiling, and tubing are accessible from nearby Sno-Parks. Chatter Creek is part of the heavily-used Icicle Creek recreation corridor in the Wenatchee Ranger District. The same campground area also includes 12 first-come, first-served single sites that cannot be reserved in advance. Visitors should note that Icicle Road is plowed to the Eightmile Road junction in winter but may become undrivable beyond that point as snowpack increases.
