Rock Island Campground is a popular destination situated on both sides of scenic Icicle Creek within the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. Located 17 miles up Icicle Creek Road from Leavenworth at an elevation of 2,800 feet, this heavily-used campground offers 22 total sites: 20 single sites and 2 double sites. All sites are available exclusively on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. The campground provides essential amenities including vault toilets and potable drinking water from a hand pump. Each site features a fire ring and picnic table. Sites accommodate up to 2 vehicles and allow either 2 tents or 1 RV plus 1 tent. The Recreation.gov mobile app's Scan and Pay feature may be available on-site for payment, though campers should be prepared to pay with cash or check. The Jack Trout Trailhead is adjacent to the campground, providing access to the Icicle Gorge Trail and River Loop for day hiking and backpacking. The surrounding area offers excellent fishing opportunities along Icicle Creek. Note that dispersed camping is prohibited between the Icicle River and Icicle Road from Snow Lakes Trailhead to Rock Island Campground.

Directions

From Leavenworth, head southwest on US-2 West for 0.8 mile. Turn left onto Icicle Road and follow for about 8.5 miles. Continue straight onto Forest Road 7600 for about 8 miles. Take a slight right onto Forest Road 7609, and the campground will be on the left.
