About
Eightmile Group Site occupies a shaded setting beneath pine and fir trees on the banks of Icicle Creek, about 8 miles up Icicle Road from Leavenworth. The single large site can host groups of up to 70 people with 25 vehicles, making it well-suited for family reunions, scout troops, or other organized gatherings. Amenities include picnic tables, a central group campfire ring, vault toilets, and drinking water from a hand pump. The surrounding area offers excellent recreation. The Fourth of July Trail begins nearby at 4,000 feet and climbs through open terrain with views of the Stuart Range and Icicle Valley. Toketie Lake holds rainbow and cutthroat trout for anglers willing to make the trek. Icicle Creek itself provides fishing access and a place to cool off. The campground sits within reach of Alpine Lakes Wilderness, with over 700 lakes scattered across glacier-carved terrain. Reservations are required and can be made through Recreation.gov up to one year in advance. The campground operates seasonally, typically from late May through early fall depending on conditions. Electric hookups are not available, and RV hoses cannot be attached to the water system.
