About
Edna Creek Campground is located 56 miles northeast of Boise, Idaho, along Highway 21 (Ponderosa Pine Scenic Byway) at an elevation of 5,700 feet. The campground sits within the burn scar from the 2016 Pioneer Fire, so campers should be aware of burned and downed hazard trees in the surrounding landscape. Despite the fire impact, the area supports abundant wildlife and summer wildflowers. The campground offers 11 sites with parking on graveled spurs. Each single site includes one picnic table, one fire ring, one utility table, and one tent pad, while double sites have two picnic tables, two utility tables, one fire ring, and one tent pad. Two vault toilets and one hand water pump serve the campground. There is no trash service, so campers must pack out all waste. Due to the campground's proximity to Highway 21, some traffic noise should be expected. Recreational opportunities abound in the area. A small creek runs adjacent to the campground, and Crooked River is nearby, offering fishing for whitefish and rainbow trout. Numerous trails within a short drive provide hiking, biking, horseback riding, and ATV opportunities. In winter, the area becomes popular for backcountry skiing and snowmobiling. Historic Idaho City is located 18 miles south of the campground.
Directions
From Idaho City, drive north on Highway 21 for about 18.5 miles. Edna Creek Campground will be on the right at the start of FS-384 road at milepost 56.8.
