About

Deadwood Campground offers a rustic camping experience at the confluence of the Deadwood River and South Fork of the Payette River along the Banks-Lowman Road (Highway 17) in Boise National Forest. The 6-site campground is situated at the base of a forested hillside with Ponderosa pines providing partial shade throughout the area. Summer wildflowers dot the landscape during the open season. The campground serves as the trailhead for Deadwood Ridge Trail and provides river access to the South Fork Payette River, making it popular with hikers, anglers, and whitewater enthusiasts. Rafting, kayaking, and fishing are primary activities in the area. Horse and pack animals are permitted at this campground. Numerous natural hot springs pools can be found along the Banks-Lowman Highway, also known as the Wildlife Canyon Scenic Byway, making this an excellent basecamp for exploring the region's geothermal features.
