About
Echo Bay Campground sits in the northwestern section of Lake Mead National Recreation Area along the scenic Overton Arm, providing a secluded desert camping experience with year-round access. The campground features 52 paved sites suitable for both tents and RVs, each equipped with a picnic table and fire pit or grill. Multiple flush restrooms and water spigots are distributed throughout the campground for convenient access. Mature cottonwood trees, palm trees, oleanders, and native desert vegetation provide varying degrees of shade and privacy between sites, with some locations offering views of the lake. The remote location makes Echo Bay ideal for stargazing and wildlife watching, with frequent sightings of diverse bird species, lizards, antelope squirrels, and occasional coyotes. The area is particularly popular with anglers who can access numerous fishing coves by foot or boat, and a fish cleaning station is available near the picnic area. While the Echo Bay boat launch is currently closed due to low lake levels, the nearest launch is at Callville Bay, approximately 30 miles south. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring nearby attractions including the Valley of Fire State Park, Redstone Picnic Area, Rogers Spring, Blue Point Spring, and the historic ruins of St. Thomas, a once-flooded town. The Northshore Road Scenic Drive features stunning red rock formations and additional picnic areas. Summer temperatures frequently exceed 100°F, while winter can bring freezing nighttime temperatures. The area receives minimal rainfall, averaging only 4 inches annually.
