Arch Rock Campground provides an intimate desert camping experience within Valley of Fire State Park, surrounded by 40,000-year-old red Aztec sandstone formations that glow brilliantly at sunrise and sunset. Located near Overton about 50 miles northeast of Las Vegas, the campground offers 29 well-spaced sites that feel private and secluded, tucked among boulders and natural rock alcoves. Sites 22-24 are particularly prized for their scenic settings, while site 6 features a small cave formation. Unlike the larger Atlatl Rock Campground which offers RV hookups, Arch Rock maintains a more primitive character suited to tent campers and self-contained RVs. Each site includes a shaded picnic table, fire pit, barbecue grill, and water spigot. Vault toilets are located throughout the campground. Campers needing showers or dump station access can use facilities at Atlatl Rock nearby. The campground serves as an excellent base for exploring the park's remarkable geology and 3,000-year-old petroglyphs. Popular nearby trails include Mouse's Tank, Rainbow Vista, and Fire Wave, though note that many trails close May 15 through September 30 due to extreme heat. Bighorn sheep frequently wander through the area, and the dark desert skies offer exceptional stargazing.

Directions

From Las Vegas, take I-15 north approximately 35 miles to Exit 75 (Valley of Fire/Lake Mead). Turn right onto NV-169 East and continue about 18 miles into the park. Arch Rock Campground is located along the main park road past the visitor center.
