About
Located in Nevada's oldest and largest state park, Atlatl Rock Campground provides access to the striking red, pink, and white Aztec sandstone formations that give Valley of Fire its name. The campground takes its name from the nearby Atlatl Rock petroglyph site, featuring ancient rock art dating back over 2,000 years that depicts atlatls (prehistoric spear-throwing devices).
The 44 campsites are arranged among the sandstone formations, with sites 1-22 offering standard camping and sites 23-44 equipped with electric and water hookups. Every site includes a shaded picnic table, fire ring with cooking grill, and a water spigot. The campground features modern restroom facilities with free hot-water showers, a dump station for RV waste disposal, and trash collection service.
The park's desert environment means hot summers and mild winters, with spring and fall being the most popular camping seasons. The campground provides convenient access to popular attractions including Mouse's Tank Trail, White Domes, Fire Wave, and the Elephant Rock formation. Park gates are open from sunrise to sunset, though registered campers may enter and exit outside these hours.
