About

East Canyon State Park is a mountain reservoir destination at 5,700 feet elevation in Morgan County, Utah, roughly 45 minutes northeast of Salt Lake City. The 685-acre reservoir offers excellent fishing for rainbow and brown trout, along with boating, swimming, and paddling. The park's higher elevation provides relief from summer heat in the valley below. The park operates two main campgrounds. Dixie Campground runs year-round and features full-hookup and partial-hookup sites with fire rings and picnic tables. During the normal season, flush restrooms and showers are available; winter operations switch to vault toilets with limited services. Additional shower facilities are located near the boat ramp about 0.2 miles away. Big Rock Campground is a seasonal primitive area with no hookups, vault restrooms, and dedicated hammock camping zones where campers can bring their own hammock or rent one on-site. Beyond traditional campsites, the park offers yurts, cabins, Conestoga wagons, camping trailers, and a lake cottage for those seeking more amenities. Group camping areas including Rivers Edge, Large Spring, and Mormon Flat accommodate parties up to 100 people. All reservations are made through the Utah State Parks ReserveAmerica system.
